My practice explores the relationship between the past and the future through textiles, using fabric to reflect on sustainability, social issues, and personal experience shaped by my environment. I am interested in how materials carry memory, history, and meaning, and how traditional processes can be reimagined within a contemporary context. Natural fibers and found materials are central to my work, allowing me to engage with slower, more mindful approaches to making that challenge industrial modes of production.
I draw from ancient textile techniques such as batik, block printing, embroidery, and weaving, treating them as living practices rather than static traditions. Alongside textiles, I incorporate materials including cellulose fibers, glass, metal, sound, and natural plant dyes to blur boundaries between soft and rigid, organic and industrial. My work takes the form of interactive canvases, installations, and sculptural objects that invite sensory engagement and encourage viewers to reflect on their relationship with materials, symbols, and inherited knowledge—considering how tradition can evolve to address contemporary concerns and imagine alternative futures.
